AIRDRIE AND HAMILTON PROCURATORS FISCAL

Two Lanarkshire Procurators Fiscal are set to expand their knowledge of the area when they take up their new posts today.

David Spiers, District Procurator Fiscal at Airdrie, and Anne Donaldson, who holds the same post at Hamilton, are to exchange roles from today.

Mr Spiers and Ms Donaldson will hold a commission for their respective sheriff court districts and will act as the personal representative of the Lord Advocate on a day-to-day basis, with responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexplained deaths in Hamilton and Airdrie .

Mr Boyd said:

"I am delighted to announce both of these appointments in Lanarkshire. David and Anne are both experienced senior Fiscals who have played important roles in serving the local communities of Airdrie and Hamilton.

"With new District Procurators Fiscal at the helm, the committed and professional staff at both these offices will continue to develop upon existing partnerships with local criminal justice agencies."

Mr Spiers and Ms Donaldson will both continue to work closely with Lanarkshire Area Procurator Fiscal, Janet Cameron, who has full management and budgetary responsibility for the Lanarkshire area.

Biography

David Spiers - Hamilton District Procurator Fiscal

David Spiers joined the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in 1976. He started as a depute in Airdrie. Since then he has worked in a number of offices across Scotland including four years as a depute in Hamilton in the late 70's/early 80's.

Mr Spiers (51) is married with five children. He graduated from Strathclyde University. He is looking forward to working with criminal justice partners in the Hamilton area, many of whom he already knows through his current involvement with the Lanarkshire Alcohol and Drug Action Team.

Anne Donaldson - Airdrie District Procurator Fiscal

Anne Donaldson joined the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service in 1977. She has worked in a number of offices in the service, including Kilmarnock and Glasgow, and spent some time in the Quality & Practice Review Unit in Crown Office, Edinburgh.

Anne is 52, married with 2 daughters. She is a graduate of Glasgow University. She is looking forward to extending her knowledge of Lanarkshire by her transfer to the Airdrie Office and to providing a high standard of service to the local community.
