APPEAL LODGED - KAREN DUNCAN AND IRENE DUNCAN

The Lord Advocate has today lodged an appeal against the sentences imposed on Karen and Irene Duncan, who were convicted at the High Court in Glasgow for attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

On 25 March 2008 at the High Court in Glasgow, Karen Duncan was sentenced to 22 months and her sister, Irene Duncan, was sentenced to 27 months for attempting to defeat the ends of justice.

Note to Editors

The Lord Advocate has the right of appeal against a sentence on the ground that it is unduly lenient.

Stephen Price, 20, was sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Scott Burgess at his Paisley home between August and September 2007.

Karen Duncan was also convicted of culpable homicide and was sentenced to 5 years and 3 months. This sentence is unaffected by this appeal
