Sentence More Than Doubled after Crown Appeal

The Appeal Court more than doubled a sentence which had been imposed on a man who pled guilty to a number of housebreaking and theft charges at Inverness Sheriff Court.

The Solicitor General, Frank Mulholland QC, today announced that a senior member of Crown Counsel is to work closely with the Lothian and Borders Area sexual offences team, to provide advice from the earliest stage of investigations.Assistant Principal Advocate Depute, Dorothy Bain QC, will provide legal and practical guidance on the investigation and prosecution of all sexual offences, including rape and serious indecent assaults

Scotland's Top Fiscal Appointed to Senior Crown Office Post

The Lord Advocate, Elish Angiolini QC, has today announced the appointment of Scotland’s most senior Procurator Fiscal, Mrs Catherine Dyer, to a top management post in the Crown Office in Edinburgh. Mrs Dyer, age 48, has been the Area Procurator Fiscal in Glasgow since December 2003.

Civil Recovery Proceedings
