Lord Advocate appoints new Procurator Fiscal for Aberdeen

Mr McGowan, previously District Procurator Fiscal for Greenock, will now hold a commission for Aberdeen Sheriff Court District and will act as the personal representative of the Lord Advocate on a day to day basis. He will have local responsibility for the investigation and prosecution of crime and the investigation of sudden, suspicious and unexplained deaths

Lord Advocate Publishes Prosecution Policy on New Driving Offences

The Lord Advocate, Elish Angiolini QC, today wrote to the Justice Spokespersons in the Scottish Parliament to provide information on the implementation of the new offences introduced to the Road Traffic Act 1988 of Causing Death by Careless, or Inconsiderate, Driving (Section 2B) and Causing Death by Driving: Unlicensed, Disqualified, or Uninsured Drivers (Section 3ZB). The letter reads:
